FUEL INJECTOR CLEANING AND CALIBRATION

When performing the flow testing and calibration of your injectors, we cycle the injectors at:

FLOW RATE:

Static Flow

FLOW TEST PARAMETERS:

Static open position

REPRESENTATION:

Amount of fuel the pintle and orifice can physically flow. Diagnostic test - your motor does not perform at static flow.

RISKS IF OUT-OF-BALANCE:

Determine if the set of injectors are flowing sufficient fuel.

DESIRED % OF IMBALANCE:*

2% - 4%

* Optimax Fuel and Air injectors can have slightly higher percentage of imbalance.

FLOW RATE:

5 MSEC @ 6,000 RPMs

FLOW TEST PARAMETERS:

Injectors are pulsed to simulate Wide Open Throttle (WOT)

REPRESENTATION:

Determine if injector and solenoid are operating correctly.

RISKS IF OUT-OF-BALANCE:

Extreme reduction in horsepower, loss of top speed RPM's, reduced fuel mileage, risk of damage.

DESIRED % OF IMBALANCE:*

2% - 4%

* Optimax Fuel and Air injectors can have slightly higher percentage of imbalance.

FLOW RATE:

2 .5 MSEC @ 6,000 RPMs

FLOW TEST PARAMETERS:

Injectors are pulsed to simulate idle.

REPRESENTATION:

Determine if injector and solenoid are operating correctly.

RISKS IF OUT-OF-BALANCE:

Rough idle conditions, reduced fuel flow, reduced mileage.

DESIRED % OF IMBALANCE:*

2% - 4%

* Optimax Fuel and Air injectors can have slightly higher percentage of imbalance.

SERVICES

Before Cleaning:

Each injector is numbered with etching underneath the connector - this numbering sequence will correspond to the Injector Calibration Report. If you are trying to diagnose an engine problem, you can number the injectors before sending to us and we will number and test the injectors based on your numbering.

• Inspect injectors for electrical resistance and shorting
• Remove injector screens and o-rings
• Individually flow test each injector at Static Flow, 5 MSEC, and 2.5 MSEC - recording results.
• Analyze spray pattern - noting irregularities.
• Bosch injectors are bead-blasted to remove old paint and corrosion.

Cleaning:

• Ultrasonically clean in heated bath solution while injectors are cycling
• Back-flush injector to remove contaminents

After Cleaning:

Individually flow test each injector at Static Flow, 5 MSEC, and 2.5 MSEC - until measurement stabilizes to 1/100 gram and continuously repeats. Rich or flooding injectors can be calibrated with customer approval. "See Mechanical Adjustment on the Service Request Form". Compute results of flow tests and generate a comprehensive injector calibration report. Bosch injectors are sealed with clear lacquer. Install new screens and o-rings. We will then contact customer (telephone and/or email) with results prior to returning shipment.

Turn-around Time:
